Gmail 5.0 Brings Material Design and Support for Yahoo and Outlook
Now that Android 5.0 Lollipop is official, the folks are Google are updating their apps to align with their new Material Design philosophy. As you may know, Material Design aims to bring a more colorful and animated UI and more realistic shadows, and that’s how all native Android apps will look by the time Lollipop is released.
Anyway, it looks like the Mountain View-based giant will not release all the updated apps before Android 5.0 Lollipop becomes available for download. After apps like like Play Store, Play Movies, and Play Newsstant got updated to fall in line with the new material design philosophy, now it’s time to learn how the new Gmail version looks like.
Some Gmail 5.0 screenshots have leaked online after the folks atAndroid Police received early access to the update version of Google’s mail client. Besides bringing Material Design-specific changes like more animations, brighter colors, and more realistic shadows, Gmail 5.0 also brings support for handling email accounts from other providers.
The new Gmail has integration with Yahoo and Outlook and you switch between them with a swipe. You can also touch the account drop down to access it.
Unfortunately, Android Police didn’t made the Gmail 5.0 APK available for download. The new version of Google’s mail client will be officially released for the public in November, after the Android 5.0 Lollipop roll out begins.
