HTC One M8 Android 4.4.4 Update

Soon after HTC introduced their new selfie-centric features called HTC Eye Experience, the new software suite is now brought to the HTC One M8. The HTC One M8 Android 4.4.4 update is now being rolled out in parts of Europe, so if you happen to own the unlocked variant of the M8 you should keep an eye on the notifications panel.

Besides bringing HTC Eye Experience, the new Android 4.4.4 OTA update for HTC One M8 also arrives with various security fixes, some of which already patched in the Android 4.4.3 update. The HTC Eye Experience suite includes features like Face Tracking, Split Capture, Face Fusion, Voice Selfie, Live Makeup, and Photo Booth. The new software update has build number 3.28.401.6 and, for the time being, is being rolled out in the Nordic regions of Europe. As usual, we are dealing with a staged roll out, so other countries should follow soon. Of course, the unlocked terminals will be the first ones to receive the new update, as it may take a few weeks for carriers to push the new firmware to their users.

As you may know already, once your HTC One M8 becomes eligible to receive the new Android 4.4.4 OTA update you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, choose “Download now,” then select “Install now” after the download is complete. In case the system update notification failed to appear you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.

The new HTC One M8 Android 4.4.4 update has a size of 252 MB, therefore it’s recommended to download the update file using a WiFi network connection to avoid unwanted data charges. It’s also worth noting that the HTC Eye Experience suite will also be made available as an update for other HTC devices including One M7, One Mini 2, and One Max.
