HTC One M8 Max Could Arrive with 5.5-inch QHD Screen, Snapdragon 805 CPU, and 3 GB RAM

It looks like it will be a hard-fought battle on the phablet segment this year. LG has its compact G3 with a 5.5-inch screen and the size of a regular smartphone, Samsung recently announced the Note 4 with a 5.7-inch screen, and Apple is attempting to bite a big chunk from the phablet market share with its bendable 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. It seems though that HTC will also be in the race for the best phablet with a successor for their HTC One Max.

Last year’s HTC One Max was a decent phone, but obviously less powerful than its direct competitor, the Galaxy Note 3, and even than HTC’s One M7. According to MyDrivers, the Taiwan-based phone maker has a One Max successor in the works. We don’t know yet what its official name will be (maybe HTC One M8 Max), but we know that it will be a power house.

According to the aforementioned source, HTC One M8 Max will sport a 5.5-inch screen with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution, while being underpinned by a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM. It looks like the device will also feature an 18 MP main shooter with optical image stabilization and a 3,000 mAh battery.

MyDrivers also claims that HTC One M8 Max will run Android L out of the box with HTC Sense 6.5 on top of it. The Taiwanese company doen’t usually change the Sense version number without introducing major features, so we’re excited to see what’s inside.

The HTC One Max 2013 failed to become a popular device (probably because of the unappealing specs) and it was rumored that HTC is no longer willing to compete on the phablet segment. We are glad though that the Taiwanese phone maker changed its mind, especially if the aforementioned HTC One M8 Max specs prove to be accurate.
