HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Will Reportedly Be Pushed to Users March – April
Android 5.0 Lollipop was officially announced by Google earlier last week. Soon after the Mountain View-based company introduced the new Android version as Android L back in June, HTC revealed they are planning to bring the new update on their flagship smartphones – One M7 and One M8 – within 90 days after the Google makes the final code available. A new report reveals when the Taiwanese phone maker plans to bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816.
Details regarding the release of HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816 have surfaced online courtesy of LlabTooFeR, a trustworthy source when it comes to reports about HTC devices. According to him, the new update will be released for the two aforementioned smartphones sometime in the March – April time frame. Just like everybody anticipated, HTC’s Google Play Edition smartphones will be the first to get updated to Lollipop (in November – December), followed by the company’s One M7 and One M8 flagships (January – February).
The report also indicates that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816 will arrive with HTC’s Eye Experience software suite. In fact, it seems that Eye Experience will arrive on other “old” devices, as well, but that “not all features will be available.” I remind you that the Eye Experience suite debuted on HTC’s selfie-centric Desire Eye, bringing camera-focused software features like Face Tracking, Split Capture, Face Fusion, Voice Selfie, Live Makeup, or Photo Booth. Unfortunately, LlabTooFeR doesn’t mention whether HTC is also preparing a major update for their Sense UI.
As usual, the HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be rolled out in phases, meaning that the ETA may vary depending on country and carrier. The unlocked variants will most likely be the first to get the new update, followed by carrier-branded models.
