The Blackphone, a smartphone centered around privacy and security, will soon be joined by a companion. The creator of the Blackphone, Silent Circle, has confirmed that they’re currently working to create a private and secure tablet. In a statement to BBC, Jon Callas, the co-founder of Silent Circle, said about the company that “we are going to have a tablet soon.”
The Blackphone was created amidst reports of government surveillance and offers advanced security such as encrypted calls, texts and browsing to prevent unwanted eyes or ears from knowing your phone use. The phone has sold very well for the small market that it’s aimed at. A tablet from Silent Circle would reportedly feature the same security features and likely also sell well. In this day and age, many are concerned about security and are willing to pay a premium for it.
