Microsoft says Xbox One sales have ‘skyrocketed’ in recent weeks
After months of having to settle with second place, the Xbox One might finally be on the rebound. Yusuf Medhi, corporate VP of devices and studios at Microsoft, took to the Xbox Wire on Wednesday to discuss some of the recent developments in the world of Xbox, from the release of console exclusives Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Sunset Overdrive to the limited time sale that brings the price of the Xbox One below that of the PS4 for the first time since the two consoles launched.
“The response to this wave of blockbuster game releases and new bundles has been amazing, and sales have skyrocketed since the new price took effect on Nov. 2,” says Medhi.
“Compared to the previous week, Xbox One sales in the US have more than tripled, which is exciting as more and more friends will be playing together this holiday. As we head into the busy holiday season Xbox One led generation 8 console sales in the US for the past two weeks. Shortly, we will have sold in to retailers more than 10 million Xbox One consoles.”
If Microsoft can maintain this momentum, it will be the first month in which the Xbox One has beaten the PS4 in sales since the beginning of the year.
