Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA ZIP for Nexus 7 2013 Now Available for Download

Late last year, the folks at Google pushed the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for the Nexus 7 2012 owners. A few days ago, the factory images for the same Android build were made available for both Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 2013, which was a clear indication that the OTA roll out shouldn’t be too far away.

Now the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA update for Nexus 7 2013 is being pushed to the users. As you may know already, the new build only arrives with minor improvements, so you shouldn’t expect anything else but bug fixes and stability enhancements. As usual, the new firmware is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you might not be able to download and install it right away.

I remind you that as soon as your device becomes eligible to receive the new firmware, you should be able to see a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, choose ‘Download now’, wait until the download is completed, then select ‘Install now’. Your tablet should reboot and install the new firmware. In case the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About device > Software update > Check now.

If the manual check won’t work either, you would be able to manually force the update onto your tablet using the OTA ZIP file that can be downloaded from here. You will be able to use the said file to flash Android 5.0.2 on our Nexus 7 2013 WiFi using the ‘adb sideload’ command. You should also known that your tablet must run Android 5.0.1 in order to be able to perform the manual update.
