Google Updates Its YouTube App, New Android 5.0 Material Design In Tow
One of the main highlights of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop version is the all-new Material Design UI. With an aim to provide a unified UI experience across different platforms, Google is making sure it does its bit to add to the growing list of applications to feature an updated look based on the Material Design guidelines. The latest app to receive such an update is the ever popular YouTube app. Google has started rolling out the latest version of the YouTube app – 6.0.11 on the Google Play Store. Since the rollout of the latest version has just begun, it may take a few days for you to see the version show up on Google Play Store for your device.
The main difference with the latest version is of course the UI design, which seems to have a strong use of the color Red everywhere. But the predominant color does change depending on the channel that you’re viewing. But for the most part, you should be prepared to see a splash of red on your screen when browsing through the YouTube application now on. And if you’re using an Android 5.0 Lollipop device, the app will feel very familiar to you with its new layout. Other than the change in design, there isn’t much else to talk about apart from some minor improvements. Surprisingly the official change log on the Google Play Store does not mention anything about the app UI redesign. Instead the only thing that’s listed is ‘Lots of bug fixes and stability improvements’. Some options under settings have also switched places, so you will need to do some exploring to get to some settings you may not find to be on the same location as earlier, after updating to the latest version.
If you’re impatient and would like to give the latest YouTube version a try right now, you can get the apk file from here and install it on your device like any other apk file.
