Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Factory Image Now Live
Last week, Google rolled out the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Nexus 7, Nexus 9, and Nexus 10. Now, the Mountain View-based giant released the Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop factory image, which means that the OTA update is right around the corner.
If you don’t want to wait until the Android 5.0.1 OTA update is issued for your Nexus 6, then you can use the factory image file to flash the latest firmware on your device. All you need to do is download the Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 factory image from here then adb sideload it to your terminal. The new Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 factory image has build number LRX22C and has a size of around 840 MB.It’s also worth noting that all the data on your device will be wiped during the procedure. Anyway, there might be an workaround for that. Just remove the ‘-w’ flag from the ‘flash-all.bat’ script. We haven’t tested this yet for the Nexus 6 so we don’t know for sure whether it works. Anyway, we are advising you to wait until the OTA is made available for your device rather than flashing the factory image.
For the time being, there’s no official changelog for the Android 5.0.1 update for Nexus 6, but you shouldn’t expect anything major. The new firmware is mostly about fixing bugs and improving the overall system performance. Bugs are very common for new software and Android 5.0 Lollipop makes no exception.
If you have no idea how to flash the Nexus 6 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop factory on your device and you still don’t want to wait until the OTA update is released you can return to this post in a couple of hours. It will get updated with a link to a tutorial on how to flash Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on your Nexus 6 using the factory image file.
