Nexus 9 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Factory Image Now Ready for Download
Earlier today we told you that the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update was uploaded to the AOSP repository. Even though the Nexus 9 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA update hasn’t been yet released, the factory image for the new firmware version is now available for download.
The new Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update has build number LRX22C and, for the time being, the official changelog is nowhere to be found. Anyway don’t expect the new update to bring any major changes to your tablet, as the release is most likely about fixing some bugs and to improve the overall performance of the device.
How is the fact that the Nexus 9 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop factory image is available for download useful to you? Well, you will be able to use it to update your tablet to the latest firmware version. After you download the Nexus 9 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop factory image fromhere you can use adb sideload to flash it to your device. Note that this procedure will completely wipe your device. Anyway, there’s a workaround for not losing the data stored on your Nexus 9. All you need to do is open the ‘flash-all.bat’ file with notepad or any other text editor and delete ‘-w’ from the file. ‘-w’ is an ADB flag which wipes all of the user data. Anyway, this could not work for some users, so proceed with caution.
Anyway, now that the Nexus 9 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop factory image is available for download, the OTA update shouldn’t be too far away. We are recommending you to wait until the OTA becomes available for your device rather than flashing the factory image. In case you still want to flash Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on your Nexus 9, but you don’t know exactly how to do it, you can return to this post later today when it will get updated with a link to a tutorial that teaches you how to install the new firmware on your tablet using the factory image.
