Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note Android Marshmallow 6.0 MIUI 7 update in the works
Earlier this month, a Xiaomi official had revealed on Weibo that the Mi 4 and Mi Note will be among the fist smartphones to get the MIUI 7 update based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Now, the official has once again teased a new photo revealing that the update is in its final stages of testing, reports GizmoChina. According to the post, the update is also set to arrive for the Mi 3.
It’s more like a Christmas gift for Xiaomi users who had been waiting to use Android 6.0 Marshmallow on their Xiaomi smartphones. Xiaomi official revealed that the update is in its final validation process and due to release soon. He also posted a screenshot of a 518MB MIUI 5.12.24 update, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
When Xiaomi unveiled the MIUI 7 ROM, a lot of fans were disappointed as it was based on Android 4.4 KitKat rather than the latest 5.0 Lollipop. However, Xiaomi had mentioned that despite the Android version, features of the MIUI 7 ROM will remain the same on all of its devices. It seems like most devices running on Android 4.4 KitKat based MIUI ROM would skip Android 5.0 Lollipop and directly get updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
It is important to note that this is just the beta stage after which one can expect the developer version, followed by the final, stable release via OTA in a couple of months. As of now it isn’t sure as to when Xiaomi will release the update, but we will keep you posted as more information emerges.
