Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 Now Rolling out

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is finally being pushed to users after almost a month of waiting. Or at least that’s what this tweet from @android is suggesting, so you’d better start abusing the ‘Check now’ button. For the time being, there are no reports of the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA hitting any devices.

Just like it was previously rumored, the Lollipop “rollout has started and it will soon be available on most Nexus devices.” As usual, the update is being rolled out in phases, which means that some of you might have to wait longer than others.

As you may know already, once your terminal becomes eligible to receive the new software update, you should be able to notice a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, then follow the on-screen instructions. In case the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.

Even though we are talking about a gradual roll out, after the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 starts spreading to more users, we should be able to provide you with the OTA URL so you can force a manual update. Keep in mind that your device must run an official stock firmware in order to be able to receive the OTA update. Another option is to flash a factory image as soon as they are made available for download here. This procedure is ideal if you are coming from a custom ROM and it’s also worth noting that flashing a factory image requires a full wipe.
