Android 5.0.1 Release 1 Lollipop Update Goes Live for AOSP

The official Android 5.0.1 OTA Update should soon arrive for all Nexus devices, as Google has pushed its first release straight to AOSP. This new Lollipop build has the LRX22C firmware version and it should roll out before the end of next week for select devices.

Besides the Android 5.0.1 roll out to AOSP we’ve also found out that three tablets can be already updated with the new firmware using the factory image files. Up until right now the new Android 5.0.1 LRX22C factory images are available for the 2013 Nexus 7 Wi-Fi, Nexus 9 and for the Nexus 10 tablets. There is no confirmation from Google that this new firmware will arrive for Nexus 6, Nexus 5 or Nexus 4, but we sure hope to see it released.

Android 5.0.1 update should fix various bugs and improve the overall performance of the first Lollipop firmware. The official OTA update should roll out soon enough and that’s when we will be able to find out what new features are packed in this new release. This Android 5.0.1_r1 update should be a great one for Nexus 5 users, as there are plenty of them who are complaining about battery drains and other bugs that are present in Android 5.0 Lollipop.
