Nexus 4 Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA Update Rolling Out
All the Google Nexus 4 smartphones worldwide should receive the official Android 5.0.1 OTA Update starting today. Up until the final day of 2014 we should see that all stock Nexus 4 phones running Android 5.0.1 LRX22C since this update is done in phases.
This is a small Lollipop OS update, as it only adds stability tweaks and it fixes various bugs that were noticed in the Android 5.0 LRX21T Nexus 4 firmware. The Android 5.0.1 LRX22C roll out takes place in stages and only a small number of Nexus 4 users will be getting it before the end of this week. If the new firmware works flawlessly then the rest of the remaining Nexus 4 users will be getting the Android 5.0.1 bump starting next week.
In case you don’t want to wait until Google pushes the Android 5.0.1 OTA Update in your region, then you can choose to grab the LRX22C OTA zip file here and install it manually for your Nexus 4. Note that this manual guide has to be applied only by advanced users, do not try to use the “adb sideload” commands in case you’re a novice.
The new OTA Update to Android 5.0.1 will be pushed to your Nexus 4 notification panel. When you’re notified that a brand new firmware is ready for download you should simply confirm the process, your phone will then take care of the rest of the process by itself. Note that you can also check for new firmware files by going to Settings> About Phone> System Updates.
The new LRX22C Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA Update file for Nexus 4 is small in size and you can use the mobile data plan, too. No changelog has been released by Google, so you can use the comments field below in order to list some major changes that you’ve noticed after testing the Android 5.0.1 firmware on your Nexus 4. This new firmware will probably be the final Lollipop firmware that we will see released this year.
